Sandie is a mixed media artist with a passion for making books and journals. She started playing with paper as a small child and has never stopped; she now enjoys life doing what she loves. She loves to learn and to try new things, and likes to use different techniques and materials. She has an eclectic style that feeds her passion and keeps her excited.
Sandie also loves to share what she does and runs regular WORKSHOPS
near Chelmsford. These are kept small to maintain a friendly atmosphere and students are gently guided through the different learning stages. There is emphasis on work being individual and unique, and fun to make! Workshops are suitable for all abilities and offer a good opportunity to learn new techniques and ways to use materials. Sandie has demonstrated her work and ran workshops at venues such as Museum of Power, BookArtBook Fair in Hadleigh, HobbyCraft, and Slack Space in Colchester. MORE ABOUT SANDIE'S WORK: Sandie's books are folded, glued and stitched; are made of paper, card, and fabrics. They are works of art, functional, or fun. Sandie uses a wide range of materials in her work including natural and found-things. She hand-felts wool to use as book covers, and uses eco-prints and rust to dye fabric and paper. Sandie also likes to use mixed media and has a passion for photography. Many of her books offer the opportunity to add photos and journaling, and these are perfect memory books for gifts or keepsakes. Here is a small selection:
